Cadence Training is committed to providing a setting in which every student can fulfil their potential – this includes supporting and encouraging good mental health and well-being. We understand that the challenges of the course (which may include but are not limited to the challenges of managing the balance of study time against personal/life needs, and the expectations of oneself) may feel overwhelming and result in stress or worry. To mitigate against any negative downward spiral, Cadence Training has these processes in place:
- Each student has a designated Tutor. Assigned Tutors will change during the course but there are clearly established communication channels between the students and their assigned tutor, as well as between all Tutors and Course Directors. These lines of communication ensure sure that the needs of the students are known and met.
 - There is a personal journal on the Learning Portal on our website where students can write their reflections on their learning and anything that is going on for them. Their assigned Tutor will keep track of what is happening for the student and respond appropriately.
 - There is a half an hour one-to-one session with the tutor every month, when any issues can be discussed.
 - If the student is having difficulties on the course (e.g. mental health issues or an issue with any other students or teachers), they can let their tutor know immediately via their agreed form of communication.
 - If the student is not happy with the response by their tutor, or has an issue with their tutor, they can contact the Welfare Lead (Lindsey Garwood).

In extreme cases:
Cadence Training is committed to supporting students to manage difficulties that may arise during their time on the course through the support systems outlined above. However, in some circumstances it may become apparent over time that a student’s physical, mental, emotional or psychological health or state requires a level of support which we are not directly equipped to provide. Such cases may suggest that it is not practicable for the student to continue their studies, or that they pose an unsustainable burden on others (including teaching staff and students). In these circumstances it may not be possible for the student to continue on the course. We will work with the qualifying body for the course, and other relevant parties who are appropriately qualified to provide a clear decision on how to proceed, constantly keeping the students best interests in perspective. Any decisions will be clearly documented and provided to the student with due process and in a way which we consider as sensitive as possible to their circumstances.
